Tri-State's Wild Bird Clinic is open 365 days a year to treat native wild birds that are often victims of cat attacks, habitat destruction, vehicular strikes, lead or pesticide poisoning, and entanglement in improperly discarded fishing line or other litter. The Clinic staff includes experienced wildlife rehabilitation professionals and a full-time veterinarian specializing in avian medicine. The wild bird clinic by the numbers: Nearly 3,000 patients admitted a year Over 300 of those patients are birds of prey Over 150 native species treated 30 years of teaching the future of rehabilitation through internships 17 years of presenting An Introduction to Wildlife Medicine at the UPenn's School of Veterinary Medicine Over 24,000 donated hours from our dedicated volunteers each year. When native birds have been found injured, orphaned, or ill, the community turns to Tri-State. Our professional staff and volunteers provide the best, if not only, chance these animals have to return to the wild. Operating under state and federal permits, our Wild Bird Clinic at The Frink Center for Wildlife admits nearly 3,000 patients every year, most of them affected by human activity. Half of these patients will be young birds that will be expertly raised and returned to life in the wild. Providing professional care for wildlife in need since 1976
